Il Dr. Pinelli e il CCL senza rimozione dell'epitelio

[...] There are different opinions regarding the epithelium removal. Initially, the C3-R treatment had been studied and performed after removal of the epithelium in order to improve the riboflavin penetration in the stroma; the treatment is now realized without depithelialization. “The fact is that it has not been demonstrated so far if the riboflavin penetrates more or less with or without depithelialization, and above all, it has not been demonstrated how much riboflavin penetrates the stroma” states Dr. Pinelli. “In our group [of surgeons involved in the SICR multicenter study] we observed the effect of the linking among the collagen fibres through the refractive results of our patients who underwent the treatment”.
Personal experience
After observing the riboflavin absorption without epithelial removal via fluoroscopy, we noticed that the epithelium does not significantly restrict the riboflavin penetration.
