. do you remove the epithelium before the treatment ?
.why in Italy does cross linking cost around 2000 euro each eye…? ‘cause I know that in Dresden it does cost around only 600 euro each eye…
.will I be sure that I could wear contact lenses after cross linking?
. How thick must be my cornea to be crosslinked?

bout the fact that Cross Linking heals keratoconus completely I can tell that this is valid in 95% of the cases. Other 5 % needs to be re-operated to reinforce the primary results.
About the age, Cross Linking can be performed at any age.
The classic Dresda Protocol Cross linking is so painful because of the corneal disepithelization that needs from 7 to 12 days to be completely re-epithelized.
With the SACL we do not disepithelize and the recovery is in 48 hours.
In fact, with my method, we have a certain pain in the first night only.

About the cost, I myself work privately with a very efficient organization and the technique itself that I have developed needs a substantial amount of work and time to be performed but the results are completely different.

You can be sure that you will be able to wear soft contact lenses after the praesidia but I do not suggest you to wear RPG at all before and eventually after any praesidia because they will surely worsen your keratoconus in the long run.
About the thickness we do perform with my special technique Cross Linking also in patients long below the 400 microns given as minimum by Dresda protocol. We do reach always more than 400 microns before the ultraviolet exposure and this is the only important thing to respect not to cause any harm to the inside parts of the eye. About how much thick must be your cornea to be cross linked by us I can confirm you that we have safely performed Selective Asymmetric Cross Linking (my technique) in corneas of 200 microns that we have lift up to 450 – 500 microns before the UVA light exposure.

2.....dice che si possono mettere le lenti morbide ma sconsiglia l'uso delle RGP perchè a

Mi fa molto piacere parlare di cross-linking perche' ci credo profondamente e l'ho seguito dagli inizi.

spero , anzi sono convinta , che molti utenti saranno interessati a capire
meglio il cross- linking e soprattutto a farselo raccontare non solo da
un paziente entusiasta ( vedi Alberto o Kavi\David) ma...
da chi ci lavora ... da anni tutti i giorni !

Voglio precisare che Igor non è qui per farsi pubblicità ( non credo ne abbia bisogno) e spero che non nascano subito 'castranti polemiche'

AVVISO TUTTI MEDICI E UTENTI che per me la prima battaglia della nostra associazione dovrà essere rivolta al Ministero della Salute: se è vero che il cross linking evita i trapianti allora perchè non lo si fa in tutti gli ospedali come
una semplice appendicectomia?

1 che il ccl venga passato in tutte le regioni dal SSN!

2 se non fosse possibile che almeno vengano regolamentate le tariffe....

mi sa che ogni medico
puo' stabilire il prezzo.... come i dentisti x fare un esempio stupido...)
